Reiki is a type of therapy healing that was designed by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist. This treatment was created many years ago. The creator based its outcomes on the spiritual principle claiming that everyone is surrounded and guided by a life force that we cannot see. This force controls people’s emotional, physical and mental wellness. When we let the energy flow freely within our bodies, it is possible that we can reach out to the power reserves sitting in our bodies, and we don’t know it yet. This energy will run into the blockages in our bodies caused by negative thoughts, stress, and trauma. Yes, this might sound like voodoo kind of magic to most people, but many people who have been in this session can attest that they have experienced a positive shift. More on Reiki at

Reiki healing offers the body different benefits, including boosting the mood. Reiki helps improve moods by relieving depression and anxiety. A study in 2011 showed that individuals who had reiki felt good moods. The participants of this study were taken through six-thirty minutes reiki session for about eight weeks. Every week, these people showed improvement in their spirits.

What happens in the session?

Reiki masters offer treatment in a peaceful and private environment. This, however, does not limit the settings in which you can do the practice. First, the client has to sit or lie down comfortably and fully dressed. The practitioner then places their hand over certain areas of the client for about three to ten minutes. If that body part has an injury, the hand is placed above the wound. During this time, energy will be transferred from the person doing the reiki to the client. Usually, practitioners will feel some tingling and warmth in their hands. Both the practitioner and the client will keep holding each other until they feel the energy flow and finally stop. Once this is over, the practitioner removes the hand and places it in another part.

Sometimes, the practitioners use chakra wands or crystals to protect their homes from negative thoughts and energy during the healing process. These are used along with other instruments to affect the healing. The sessions last for about forty-five minutes and sometimes ninety minutes. The practitioners will determine the number of sessions a client gets depending on their wishes and needs. Some clients will want single sessions and others a series to handle different problems.

In summary, reiki is good healing for depression and anxiety even more than counseling and medications. This is because you can do the practice independently or find a family member, thus reducing the cost. Also, it allows one to learn how to harness the inner energy and utilize it in handling the troubles and mental issues you are going through. Some of the conditions people have treated using reiki include chronic pain, autism, infertility, cancer, depression, heart disease, and fatigue. If you find that these other therapies are not working, you can try reiki because it has proven to work for many people.
